W R Grace Building 66 Concrete Strengthening
Industrial concrete rehabilitation combining repair and carbon fiber reinforcement across joists, beams and slabs.
Delta Structural Technology completed a concrete strengthening project associated with W. R. Grace Building 66. The scope combined concrete repair with carbon fiber reinforcement of joists, beams and slabs identified in the project drawings. It brought restoration of the receiving concrete and installation of the composite system together within an industrial-building rehabilitation package.

Project challenge
The reinforcement scope extended across multiple kinds of concrete members. Joists, beams and slabs presented different surfaces and access requirements, while concrete repair was included as a separate part of the work. The composite installation therefore depended on preparation of the existing structure and coordination of the areas designated for reinforcement.

Project approach
Delta’s scope included staging, system scaffolding, concrete surface preparation and concrete repair before application of the carbon fiber system. Reinforcement was to follow the construction drawings, supported by composite shop drawings and material submittals. By listing concrete repair and fiber installation separately, the scope recognized that restoration of the substrate and supplemental reinforcement were related stages of the project rather than interchangeable treatments.
Delivery and coordination
The work plan assigned removal of interfering services and surface coatings to the supporting project team where applicable. That made access to clean concrete an important coordination item before reinforcement could begin. Delta’s package included mobilization of labor, materials and equipment as well as the composite system submittals. The overall sequence connected site readiness, restoration and reinforcement across the designated member types.
Project significance
Building 66 demonstrates a rehabilitation scope in which composite strengthening accompanies concrete restoration across a range of structural elements. Its distinctive feature is the combined treatment of joists, beams and slabs. The case emphasizes the need to organize preparation and access around each receiving member within a broader industrial concrete project.
