Delta Structural Technology completed restoration work at BSA Hospital’s Garage 2 in Amarillo, Texas. The scope combined concrete repair and carbon fiber strengthening with associated garage components. Delta also participated in development of the repair scope, material specification and methodology with the project engineer, connecting early repair planning with the installation requirements.

Project challenge
The repair plan addressed deteriorated concrete and the condition of existing reinforcement. Close inspection of individual structural members was needed to establish removal limits and determine where crack injection or replacement steel would be required. Because the work involved removal and reconstruction of structural concrete, temporary access and support were included in the project planning.
Project approach
The scope called for scaffolding and shoring as needed, removal of delaminated concrete, cleaning of reinforcement and application of a corrosion inhibitor. Where corrosion warranted it, new reinforcing steel was included. Repair areas would be formed and restored with high-strength repair materials, followed by curing and preparation of surfaces receiving carbon fiber. The broader scope also identified steel angle clips, bearing pads and an expansion joint as related garage repair components.
Delivery and coordination
Delta’s proposal referenced the engineer’s January 2021 drawings and addendum and described its consultation on repair methodology and materials. System submittals and composite shop drawings formed part of the reinforcement scope. The sequence connected close-up investigation, concrete removal, restoration and composite installation, with shoring and scaffolding supporting access and temporary structural needs during the work.
