L and C Tower Concrete Repair
Elevated platform access shaped concrete and steel-deck repair planning at L&C Tower’s cooling-tower level.
Delta Structural Technology completed concrete repair work at the L&C Tower in downtown Nashville. The scope was associated with cooling-tower replacement at the 34th floor and involved deteriorated concrete beneath the deck together with steel-deck repair. Elevated access was a defining element of the project, requiring the repair plan to be developed around a working platform.

Project challenge
The damaged concrete was on the underside of a high-rise deck, while the planned concrete placement approach required access from above. The roofing was to be removed by others. Reinforcement cleaning and possible replacement also formed part of the planning. A suitable work platform was therefore necessary for more than access: it connected the underside repair with the steel-deck work.
Project approach
The proposed method considered removing concrete from below and placing replacement concrete from above. Existing rebar in the affected areas was to be cleaned, with replacement assessed where needed. A local steel contractor was consulted for deteriorated deck replacement, using the same planned platform or scaffolding. This created a coordinated concrete-and-steel repair approach around the cooling-tower work area.
Delivery and coordination
The cooling-tower replacement set the broader construction context, with the old tower already removed when the repair scope was discussed. Roofing removal, working-platform design, concrete access, and steel-deck replacement had to fit within that sequence. Coordination between the repair team and the decking trade was especially important because both activities depended on the same elevated access arrangement.
Project significance
L&C Tower illustrates how access can determine the practicality of a structural repair. The proposed method linked removal from below, placement from above, and repair of the supporting steel deck. Planning those activities together gives a clearer approach to localized deterioration within a high-rise mechanical area.
