Mesquite Memorial Stadium
Mesquite Memorial Stadium raker-beam repairs integrated glass FRP, conditional crack injection and inspection before the acrylic finish.
Delta Structural Technology completed FRP work on raker beams at Mesquite Memorial Stadium. The specified system used SikaWrap Hex 103G with an acrylic topcoat. The construction package also addressed conditional epoxy crack injection and support for quality-control inspection, connecting preparation of the existing beams with the subsequent reinforcement and finish.

Project challenge
The team needed to account for cracks higher along the raker beams before applying the new FRP. The specification identified a crack-width threshold for injection, making inspection of the existing surface part of the repair sequence. The installed reinforcement also required close-up review before the topcoat, so access and testing support had to be included in Delta’s scope.

Project approach
The reinforcing work followed WJE’s sketches and the project’s FRP specification. SikaWrap Hex 103G was the specified composite, with Sikagard 670W as the acrylic finish. Delta confirmed its provision for epoxy injection where required. The planned quality-control process included visual and delamination inspection of the installed FRP before coating, keeping the reinforcing surface accessible for examination.
Delivery and coordination
Delta coordinated with Pogue Construction, WRA Architects and WJE. The team clarified that Delta would assist testing through lift access and the preparation of core holes in the FRP. Inspection coverage and sample-hole allowances were identified for planning. The contractor then directed Delta to coordinate its field start with the site superintendent, linking the specialty work with stadium construction activities.
Project significance
Mesquite Memorial Stadium illustrates how inspection requirements shape an FRP repair package. Crack treatment precedes the composite application, while examination of the installed reinforcement precedes the finish. The case demonstrates the importance of including access and test support in the construction plan so that verification is integrated into the work sequence.
