Woodlands Waterway Hotel Slab Strengthening

The work followed investigation of the hotel’s post-tensioned structure. Developing the repair required coordination of the existing slab and tendon information with the area requiring external reinforcement. The preliminary engineering also identified headroom as a consideration because the underside reinforcement required a fire-protection layer.

Garner Consulting Group prepared a pricing sketch identifying the slab-underside reinforcement area and its fiber-strip layout. The sketch required fireproofing to extend beyond the FRP edges, and it called for review of the available headroom. Subsequent project correspondence addressed signed calculations, drawings, product submittals and installation procedures for the FRP, epoxy and fireproofing.

Delta coordinated the repair package with Suncoast and the project’s contractor. The communication tied material availability and submittal readiness to the installation sequence. A March 2015 field update reported that Delta’s crew had completed the Waterway work and would return for cleanup before moving to another project.

The Waterway Hotel project illustrates the coordination required when an existing post-tensioned slab receives external reinforcement. The structural information, reinforcement layout and underside fire protection had to be considered together. Delta’s scope brought the specialist installation into that coordinated repair process, with a recorded completion update from the field.
