Campbells Sauce Plant and Packaging Joint Repairs
Campbell Soup sauce-plant repairs connected joint renewal above the kettles with concrete restoration and FRP reinforcement below.
Delta Structural Technology completed repair work in the Campbell Soup sauce-plant area, addressing the joint line near the kettles and concrete beams in the basement below. The approach combined removal of spalled material, placement of repair mortar, composite reinforcement and painting. Renewing the joint material formed part of the strategy to limit water intrusion into the underlying structure.

Project challenge
The project connected an upper-level water-entry path with deterioration in the basement structure. Visual inspections of the slab joints and concrete below the kettles informed the scope. Repair intensity varied between column lines, so the work needed to be organized by location. The surrounding production equipment and mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems also required protection during construction.

Project approach
Delta’s proposal specified removal of spalling concrete and form-and-pump placement of high-strength repair mortar. FRP strengthening and a final painted finish followed the concrete repairs. The joint scope called for removal and replacement of existing material along the identified slab joint. Beam repairs were divided into spans between column lines, allowing the facility team to coordinate the areas selected for treatment.

Delivery and coordination
The repair package included equipment, supplies and protection of adjacent plant systems with plastic sheeting. Painting was to follow curing of the FRP, making the finish dependent on the reinforcing sequence. Location-based pricing and separate mobilization considerations supported planning by repair area. This organization reflected the relationship between the overhead production space and the basement members affected by water intrusion.
Project significance
The sauce-plant project illustrates an integrated approach to recurring deterioration: address the pathway admitting water and repair the structural members beneath it. It also shows the practical value of dividing industrial repairs into clearly identified areas. Composite reinforcement, concrete restoration and joint renewal worked together within the treatment concept.
