Campbells Soup Basement and Efflorescence
Efflorescence treatment, joint repairs and glass FRP joist rehabilitation formed a coordinated repair package at Campbell Soup in Paris.
Delta Structural Technology completed a Campbell Soup repair package combining efflorescence removal, joint maintenance and reinforcement of joists or stems over the sauce-mixing area. The work brought surface condition, water-related defects and concrete repair into one scope. System scaffolding and protection of nearby equipment were included to support access in the packaging and production areas.

Project challenge
The facility presented different but related conditions: buildup on beam surfaces and joist connections, joints requiring examination, and damaged joists or stems above the sauce mixers. A surface-cleaning treatment alone would not cover the concrete repair needs. The package therefore distinguished between removal and coating of affected surfaces and the more extensive restoration and reinforcement at damaged members.

Project approach
The proposed efflorescence scope called for removing the buildup, checking joint condition, replacing joint material where necessary and extending the coating beyond the affected surface. The joist/stem scope included concrete repair, a glass fiber composite system and a final protective coating after curing. Scaffolding was identified separately for the packaging area and specified joist locations, making access part of the repair planning.
Delivery and coordination
Multiple site visits and discussions with Campbell Soup informed the proposal. Delta included plastic protection for equipment and MEP systems in the repair areas. The construction concept was organized around a planned shutdown, with curing and painting sequenced after composite placement. This coordination joined the distinct repair activities with the facility’s access and operating constraints.
Project significance
The project demonstrates why a plant maintenance package may require several complementary treatments. Surface buildup, joint defects and damaged concrete members demand different responses, yet their execution must be coordinated in the same environment. Delta’s documented scope connected those treatments with access systems and equipment protection appropriate to the surrounding production spaces.
